Example 1 shows how to fill out the Dob-a-Driver pro-forma for an incident where young drivers and onlookers were gathering in a large Service Station/food area in the early afternoon. Several car owners were showing off in the car park by racing up and down the area in-between parked cars while small children were walking to and from the eating areas.
An accident waiting to happen!
Example 2 shows how to fill out the Dob-a-Driver pro-forma for an incident where a young man was driving dangerously close to another vehicle for an extended period, having little regard for the danger both drivers were in should something unexpected occur, like emergency breaking by the vehicle in front.
Once again an accident waiting to happen!
Following are some example scenarios justifying addition to the 'Dob-a-Driver' Database
You may be able to think of a few more....... if so, return to the Main Page and post a suggestion. If you have any other stories of bad driving behaviour please send us an email from the 'Contact us' selection on the 'About' button on the Main Page as well as placing a report into the Dobadriver database.
You witness loutish and dangerous behaviour in car parks from groups gathering in public places such as large Service stations, where children are running out from parked cars to go to their favourite food shops like McDonalds and Subways etc. These groups are usually oblivious to public safety and generally don't tend to think beyond having fun with their mates, unfortunately not realising that it is normally the innocent who suffer from their behaviour and lack of consideration, possibly even small children unaware of what's going on may be the victims and there can be no excuse for a disregard of other people's safety.
In your street, or that of someone you know, there is a person who appears to consider the road his or her own private drag strip by screeching around corners and speeding off down the road well in excess of the local speed limits, totally oblivious to the fact that some small child may wander across the road looking for a ball, or drive their bicycle out from behind a parked car or even out of their own driveway. Their reasoning behind driving that way might be along the lines of 'I am testing out the car after tuning' or the like, but there is NO excuse for that behaviour. By driving in such a manner, whether rarely or on a regular basis, it is an accident waiting to happen.
You witness a motorist weaving in and out of traffic, failing to indicate, crossing double lines and basically having no regard for the laws of the road which you and others are expected to.... and do follow. This motorist also disregards any signage meant to make our roads a safer place and repeats these offences over and over.
A car is driving up and down your street in a suspicious manner and although you are unsure of their intent you have sufficient cause to report them to the Police. Even though you may report them, they may not be there when and if the Police arrive, but having been entered into the 'Dob-a-Driver' database, a record of that and future events is available online at a later date should it be necessary.
Whilst driving down the road you find you have another car sitting right on your bumper who is totally unprepared should you have to brake hard if the need arises. Not only is it irritating to have someone on your tail, it also places a great deal of stress on you because you are hoping that an emergency braking event will not be necessary for the duration they are there. Regardless of their reasoning, they should not be placing your life or indeed other lives in danger including their own through dangerous driving practices.
You know of drivers gathering on local streets for drag racing competitions in their own vehicles with the intent of trying to prove who's is best. Now you don't begrudge them some fun, but as usual the innocent are the ones who usually pay the price when things go wrong, not to mention the noise pollution to nearby residents and the obvious safety concerns. There is a time and a place for proving who has the best car, but the local public streets are not that place. Often the Police are unable to catch the offenders because they scatter in all directions when they arrive. It is the owners of the cars involved who have the responsibility, not the passengers or bystanders, and therefore by taking note of their vehicle's details when they involve themselves in this type of behaviour and adding those details into the 'Dob-a-Driver' Database, the incident details will not be lost. The knowledge that they may be included on the database will surely have a deterrent effect making them think twice before entering into such loutish behaviour.
You notice a car parked across the road from you where the driver remains in the car for some time before driving off (something you consider to be somewhat suspicious), and who knows, may repeat the process several times over several days. It could be nothing, but then again who knows, there may be criminal intent involved. If not reported, the information may be lost in the memory banks, or there will be a somewhat distorted recollection process if needed at a later date. There is no harm in taking note at the time by including it on the Dobadriver database.
While you and your family are out on the water in your half-cabin cruiser on a fine Sunday outing, you are repeatedly, or witness someone else being repeatedly annoyed by one or two guys on a jet ski, out for some fun at someone else's expense. They are repeatedly crossing your boat's wake, sometimes too close for comfort, and ignore your gestures to stop. Just take note of their vehicle's details and report them to Dob-a-Driver where that event will be permanently stored against the vehicle's owner.
