  • Be mindful of parking your vehicle in an area that will allow you to walk to and from your destination along the most travelled and suitably lit pathways.

  • Be sure not to park in isolated areas where you place yourself behind obstacles outside the view of others.

  • Make sure that you always lock your vehicle and close your windows fully.

  • When parking, keep in mind when you will return as it may very well be dark, and should this be the case, it may be advisable to move the vehicle to another location prior to it becoming dark.

  • If you are parking at night, be sure to find a spot in a well lit position of the parking area.

  • Upon return to your vehicle, be observant and aware of things which may be out of the ordinary.

  • Be sure to have your keys ready upon return to the vehicle and check inside first, both front and back seats before opening. After entering, lock the doors without hesitation.

  • Should you be uncomfortable returning to the vehicle on your own, ask a friend or security guard to accompany you, it's better to be safe than sorry.

  • If your instincts indicate danger, seek out help immediately, don't attempt to brave the situation.

  • Always be sure to cover or keep your mail and the like which may contain your address details away from prying eyes as the information may indicate to unsavory characters whether you are male or female including where you live.

  • By the same token, try not to leave valuable items in full view inside the vehicle as this may prompt criminal types to attempt access, cover them instead or place them in your car boot.

  • Remember....  your safety and that of your pasengers is reliant on your ongoing vigilance when deciding where and how to park.

  • If you observe suspicious or unacceptable behaviour that you feel should not go unchecked, when safe to do so, take note and report it to Dob-a-Driver through the incident reporting form.
